Let me start off by saying how much I love pizza, especially when it’s loaded with Canadian bacon, mouthwatering mozzarella, and of course my all time favorite topping, pineapple. Over the weekend my husband and our son made a visit to The Haven Pizzeria, located in the heart of Kensington. We indulged in some delicious appetizers, freshly prepared pizza along with some tasty drinks that satisfied our cravings. I’m not much of a beer drinker these days, so it was nice to chase our food with some Ginja Ninja Hard Cider, that was absolutely tasty. Let’s not forget about the root beer, that totally brought back childhood memories except with a little more kick than your average.
Their menu is crafted for anyone looking for unique pizza toppings that you won’t find anywhere else, with ingredients that can be trusted. Guests can get creative and craft their own pizza after choosing from a list of all natural meats, vegetables, cheeses, and sauces. Vegetarian options are available along with wheat and gluten-free crusts to accommodate every guest’s dietary needs. For those of us avoiding certain ingredients, you can be sure that they will prepare your food in proper condition without any hesitation.
There is so much more to be excited about than The Haven’s assortment of gourmet pizzas and appetizer. They also provide a colorful ambiance of unique wall art, decor and a cozy outdoor patio that overlooks the beautiful neighborhood of Kensington.
The Haven remains true to its name by offering a family-friendly atmosphere, with an exciting personality and a uniquely delicious menu made for anyone looking for a fun night out with friends or a relaxing evening with the family.

I received a meal for media consideration. All opinions are my own.
Wood Ranch bbq & grill is a lively, family-friendly restaurant located in Mission Valley. My family and I hadn’t been to a Southern California barbecue restaurant, so when we came across Wood Ranch, we were so excited. A few good things we discovered before arriving at the restaurant was learning how they BBQ & grill their food, specifically the ribs and tri tip, which my husband was talking about for the rest of the evening.
Many of their barbecue items are prepared using their unique two-step cooking process and state-of-the-art smokers. Wood Ranch slow-roasts their baby back ribs, tri-tip roasts, chickens and prime rib. Then, they grill and sauce them to order over a mesquite fire. I can even explain the taste that came from the tri-tip, it had the perfect combination of a subtle sweet and fire roasted flavor. The tri tip was tender as soon as you cut straight into it and once it entered your mouth it literally melted away. It was AMAZING! As for my children’s’ ribs, they were just as soft and tender as the tri-tip. They couldn’t get enough of the flavor. With the help of my husband, they learned how to properly devour every single portion of their ribs.
Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill provides a stylish, American dining environment showcasing large comfortable booths and tables, natural slate flooring, and warm wood tones.
They are known to produce what their guests and critics consider to be Southern California’s best barbecue.
Wood Ranch features award-winning, high quality, uniquely seasoned food items such as: Premium American Baby back Pork Ribs; Certified Angus Beef™ steaks, and burgers; USDA Choice tri-tip roasts; fresh fish and chicken; and pasta. Wood Ranch also offers a broad selection of innovative and beautifully presented salads, appetizers and homemade desserts, as well as full liquor service.
Let me start by saying that I love this place! True Food Kitchen is the ideal place to visit if you’re looking for clean and pure ingredients when it comes to dining out. I have come to love this place even more after adopting a whole foods plant-based diet, it has been a little difficult to find restaurants that I feel I can trust, so after looking through yelp I discovered True Food Kitchen and read the positive reviews. The first time I visited True Food Kitchen I didn’t know what to order, so I went off my cousin’s recommendation and ordered the Teriyaki tofu bowl, and let me tell you, it was delicious. The ingredients consisted of quinoa, shiitake mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, brown rice, and sesame. Aside from the teriyaki bowl I also ordered a Kale-aid, which was made with kale, apple, cucumber, lime, ginger and celery. After raving about this restaurant to one of my friends she insisted we go and check it out, since she had never been there and had the same struggles as me when trying to find a clean and pure food place to eat. The second time around we ordered the Kale and Avocado Dip and let me tell you, it was finger licking good. When it came to the last chip and dip and we both looked at each other and asked, “so are you going to have it?” Knowing dang well we didn’t want to give it up ha-ha. Since my last visit was pretty amazing I knew I could order pretty much anything and be satisfied with whatever. This time around I went for the “Inside Out” Quinoa Burger that was mouthwatering, along with a side of sweet potato hash browns and kale salad, #winning. Not to mention the Root & Remedy Natural Refresher drink that is made with turmeric, beet, carrot, ginger and honey lemonade.
Bracero Restaurant is Located in the heart of Little Italy, on the corner of Beech and Kettner Blvd. Little Italy is one of my favorite spots to visit in San Diego, there is so much culture and unique eateries. After doing a google search on the location I was pleasantly surprised to know Bracero was located in one of my favorite parts of town. There is nothing more I love than having good food and good convo and I experienced that at Bracero with the company of my hubby.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, we noticed the modern yet authentic design outside where we waited for lunch time to begin at 11:30am. Once we entered Bracero, I fell in love with the vibe and detail of the restaurant.
My husband and I reviewed the menu and were pleased to know the quality and authenticity of the food were its’ focus. We started off with a Lemon Chia Agua Fresca that was seriously mouth quenching and then we went on to order two drinks from the bar. My choices were the No Mames and Mahalo Guey! (the names are what sold me) …..my drink consisted of green tea that was infused with rum with a hint of coconut flavor, while the Mezcal had a strong first impression, what do you expect with Mezcal?
After we enjoyed our drinks we went onto to order a few more items from the menu. We were told from our waitress Itzel, that these particular items were the most popular and satisfying. She was right! We were blown away at the “Esquites” Street style corn, there was this fire roasted flavor that added the perfect taste to the corn. It was seriously delicious.
The next few items we ordered were nothing short of what we experienced with the street style corn. We went on to order the Slow Braised Brisket Torta, along with the Romesco Tortilla Soup that made me feel like I was tasting my mom’s home cooking.
We ended our visit at Bracero restaurant with a flan dessert. I had not had flan since I was a child so when I tasted it, once again I was impressed. The flavor of the of the mini churros and strawberries enhanced the overall taste of the flan. We were both satisfied with our meals and enjoyed our experience.
